Summary
THIS is the moment a pioneering new police car caught a young thief in the act just two days after it was introduced by a Welsh police force. The Gwent Police capture car yesterday secured its first conviction after footage recorded from one of the cars recorded a teenager stealing a satellite navigation system from a parked vehicle. Members of Cwmbran Youth Court were shown footage of a teenage boy smashing a car windscreen then reaching inside to take the satnav while the car was parked in a street in Rhymney.
The theft, which took place on July 18, is the first to lead to a successful police conviction using the capture cars, and came just two days after the pioneering scheme was launched in Gwent last month.See the full content of this document
