SIR - Being a socialist, I beg to differ from Julie Morgan MP ("My wishlist for our democracy includes a new voting system", Sept 15).

The first-past-the-post system was always an unfair way of representing people's views, the only time it produced a good government from my point of view was after the 1945 election because Clement Attlee, the Labour leader, understood the needs of ordinary people.
