SIR - In 2011 the rules of succession to the throne were changed with the intention of making them fair to women. As a result we can expect in the future roughly twice as many women to become queen as there will be men who become king.
This is a huge inequality in the chances of gaining the highest rank. It arises because men can do this only by inheritance while women have a path via marriage as well as their now equalised chance through inheritance. The consort of a reigning king is a queen while that of a reigning queen is by custom a prince.See the full content of this document
