THE value of fraud fell dramatically in Wales last year, according to KPMG Forensic's Fraud Barometer, published today.
The research, which has been running for 20 years and considers major fraud cases (those where charges are in excess of pounds 100,000 in the UK's Crown Courts) found a huge fall in both the number and value of cases reaching the courts in Wales and the South West of England. Compared with 2006, the value fell by pounds 32.6m, from pounds 37.9m in 2006 to pounds 5.3m in 2007, while the number of cases dropped from 44 to 17.See the full content of this document
