Some of Wales' most successful women are to be targeted by the Girl Guides as part of a campaign to combat the negative impact of celebrity culture. The move would follow a similar initiative which has already been launched in Scotland and has so far attracted more than 80 prominent women, including Harry Potter author J K Rowling and Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri.

Yesterday Girlguiding Cymru said they thought a similar link with successful women in Wales would provide a positive alternative to celebrity images of binge drinking and under-eating which many teenagers are faced with.
