Huw waters and Ryan Watkins stepped into the breach just as Glamorgan's fast bowling department appeared to be falling apart at the seam on the first day against struggling Somerset. The county had travelled to the West Country without Alex Wharf (groin) and Andrew Davies (side), and just before the toss James Franklin pulled out of the contest with his troublesome back.
