A bid for ailing bank Northern Rock, which has been orchestrated by Welsh entrepreneur Alf Gooding, yesterday unveiled its backers. The Tyne Consortium is made up of leading financiers from both sides of the Atlantic. It is being lead by Chip Kruger, the founder and principal of US investment management company Five Mile Capital Partners.
