Summary
SIR - I must admit I am biased against the nomination of the proposed Welsh sites for Unesco World heritage status ("'Deserving' Welsh sites bid to share Taj Mahal's accolade", July 8) , mainly on the grounds that they are not in the same league as the Taj Mahal. Also, in most cases, demographic change has meant that the people, and their descendants, who created the landscapes do not live there anymore.
However, I am more concerned with the comments of Cheryl Gillan, Secretary of State for Wales, who is reported as saying that "the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean is just one example of the outstanding beauty we have in Wales."See the full content of this document
