Summary

SIR - I must thank Mr John Matthews, the Green Party candidate for Pontypridd, (Letters, April 10) for the opportunity to restate the main thrust of my previous letter, rejecting the idea that climate-change is man-made, (April 1) which, being a little on the lengthy side, was edited before being published.

The edited passage read: "If Mr Matthews does not wish or have the time to study the scientific data produced by these scientists in their 'project' perhaps he might consider the effects of solar activity (sun spots, flares) and the proximity and attitude of the earth to the sun as described in the three Milankovitch Cycles which cover time periods of 100,000 years (Eccentricity), 41,000 years (Obliquity) and 20,000 years (Tilt), the combination of these factors vastly overshadow the activities of man."
