CARWYN JONES' campaign to succeed Rhodri Morgan as Welsh Labour leader got a significant boost today, with the endorsement of a clutch of influential MPs.

Mr Jones now enjoys the backing of 14 of Wales' 29 Labour MPs, significantly more than rivals Edwina Hart and Huw Lewis. The Jones camp hopes they can open up a near-unassailable lead amongst MPs and AMs, who hold a third of the votes in the leadership electoral college.
