Dylan thomas's hard- drinking image has been shattered by a close friend, who says he was actually a bit of a lightweight when it came to alcohol. Gwen Watkins, 81, first met Dylan and wife Caitlin more than 60 years ago. Her late husband, Vernon, was Dylan's close friend before he achieved transatlantic fame as a poet.
Now Gwen, from Mumbles, Swansea, says she knew the real Dylan and hopes her new book, Dylan Thomas: Portrait of a Friend, will help alter the public's perception.See the full content of this document
