SIR - I, for one, was overjoyed with the Yes result of the referendum - certainly a momentous occasion for this old land of ours.

I would, however, like to correct the deputy Prime Minister, Mr Nick Clegg, who, according to the Western Mail, (March 4), stated at his party's conference in Cardiff last Friday: This isn't the end of the devolution process, but it does mark an important turning point. For the first time ever, laws that affect Wales will be made in Wales. This simply is not true. Wales did once have her own laws, namely those which were codified and standardised under the legislature of Hywel ap Cadell, c.880-950 AD.
