Wales' consumer watchdog has called for the food industry to adopt a universal system of labelling, following a report that suggests consumers are being misled. A report published yesterday by the National Heart Forum revealed the industry's labelling scheme is 'fundamentally flawed' and makes food look healthier than it actually is.
Food giants such as Nestle, Kellogg's and Tesco have opted for the scheme which displays a product's nutritional values as percentages of Guideline Daily Amounts, rather than the government- backed 'traffic light' labelling scheme promoted by the Food Standards Agency.See the full content of this document
