A woman fell on rocks, leaving her paralysed from the waist down, after a climbing instructor shouted 'let go of the rope'. Health worker Lisa Brennin, 29, plunged 30ft from a quarry face at Trevor Rocks, near Llangollen, during an introductory course on mountaineering and abseiling, a court heard yesterday.

Newly-qualified John McDermott was fined pounds 1,500 with pounds 500 in a case brought under health and safety laws. The 42-year-old had pleaded guilty to exposing the public to risks by failing to maintain proper control over climbing.
