Fears of another increase in interest rates were fuelled further yesterday after official figures confirmed that the UK's economy had grown for its 60th quarter in a row.

Estimates released by the Office for National Statistics showed that the economy grew by 0.8% in the second quarter of the year - more than the 0.7% predicted by experts.
