I WASN'T asked to air my views in Liverpool's Science week, but it's a free country so I did it anyway. Michael Reiss, though, was invited. He was director of education for the Royal Society, with a string of qualifications and honours as long as your arm.
Alas, he won't be invited back. Why? Because he resigned from his post after failing to observe the unspoken rule that in science today there are questions you don't ask, and issues it doesn't pay to get involve din. His mistake was to use the 'C word'.See the full content of this document
