Summary

Labourer Les James is building a new life for himself after going back to college to get the qualifications he now needs to work on a building site. Despite having little formal education, dyslexia sufferer Mr James has received a number of qualifications and is now aiming to qualify as a bricklayer.

Mr James, 37, of Ystradgynlais, Powys, said, 'When the Government announced that all builders would need a Construction Skills Certification Scheme card to work on site I was terrified I would lose my job because I could not read or write. My friend Steven Griffiths who had already qualified as a bricklayer persuaded me to give learning a try - I haven't looked back since.'
