Us girls hear all the time how we're not funny, that we can't tell jokes and always forget the punchlines. And now the Glee Club has revealed that fewer than one in 15 of its regular stand-ups are female. So can women be funny? Cathryn Scott investigates

And as one of the 21 semi-finalists in the 2006 Funny Women Awards, and a regular in London's Something For The Weekend, a female-only comedy theatre show, she should know. 'If someone's funny they're funny whether they're tall or short, old or young, male or female. And I really don't think it's something only men can do.'
