A SOCIAL services review has been set up to establish whether lessons can be learned after a mother who added potentially lethal amounts of methadone to her baby's milk was jailed for three years.

Nia Wyn Jones, 30, was told by Judge Merfyn Hughes, QC, at Caernarfon Crown Court, that she could easily have killed her daughter, who was lucky to have survived. And the judge warned there remained a risk, too difficult to quantify, of permanent damage to the baby's brain.
