Summary
SIR - Dr Robyn Lewis tells us that he is entitled to walk the streets dressed as an academic, a lawyer or a bard, but doesn't do so because he "should be an object of public ridicule, a laughing stock - and quite rightly so" (Letters, March 19).
Quite rightly so, because two of these modes of dress represent an archaic tradition maintained to boost the egos and status of those who wear them and the bards' robes are a ridiculous anachronism, hinted at in his own letter, invented for the same purpose.See the full content of this document
