Summary

SIR - I was so pleased to see Respect members in Cardiff challenging Mr Charles Kennedy's claims that his party are against the war (The Western Mail , June 3).

The Liberal Democrats don't even mention Iraq in their European election mailing but, on the quiet, claim to be against Blair and Bush on their policy on Iraq. If this was true they would have opposed the bombing of Iraqi civilians when it happened. While hundreds of thousands protested at the visit to the UK by President Bush in a bid by Blair to help in his re-election bid what did Kennedy do? He wined and dined with the war criminal Bush in London. The Liberal Democrats have supported every privatisation and anti- trade union law. They never take the side of ordinary people in any industrial dispute since they are funded by big business. The Liberal Democrats are not an anti-war party and we should not be conned into believing they are. The Liberal Democrats are for more troops being sent to Iraq! A vote for Respect in the European Election will send a powerful message to Blair - End the war and bring the troops home.
