Europe needs urgently to increase the level of co-operation between academic research and industry, the European Commissioner for Science and Research told the Western Mail yesterday. Janez Potocnik, who led the Slovenian government's negotiating team in the run-up to the former Yugoslavian country's accession to the EU three years ago, was on a fact-finding visit to South Wales.
