Sir - bbc Wales sympathises with Brian Christley of Abergele (North/South divide, Western Mail, Letters, 27 July) and his call for more local television news coverage. We recently published proposals to develop new local television services across Wales, offering viewers a daily news, sport and weather bulletin reflecting their own area in both Welsh and English. These new services would complement our current national news service, BBC Wales Today. If the BBC Governors approve our plans early next year, and sufficient funding is available, we believe local television services will enable BBC Wales to better reflect the local needs and interests of audiences throughout Wales.
