Television presenters Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer have thrown their weight behind a campaign calling for the introduction of Home Information Packs to be scrapped. The hosts of Channel 4 property show Location, Location, Location warned the packs could have a 'devastating effect' on the property market and would cost consumers a 'great deal of money'.

Their concerns were echoed yesterday in Cardiff, one of a handful of places where HIPs were piloted.
