Summary
The healthy-eating message has not reached the Urdd Eisteddfod, with junk food high on the menu, according to campaigners on the maes at Ruthin. The walkways are lined with stalls selling doughnuts, ice cream, chips, chicken nuggets and pick-and-mix sweets. Disappointed parents suggested the Urdd should ensure in future there were stalls on the maes selling baked potatoes, pasta salads and fresh fruit.
Salads are relegated to a small section of the counter in Caffi Mr Urdd, the indoor food pavilion, where customers can choose pre- packed salads on plates under cling film.
