LIVERPUDLIAN Nick Dougherty grabbed a share of the first-round lead at the Celtic Manor yesterday and dedicated it to his late Welsh-born mother.

Ennis Dougherty died of a heart attack, in Florida, in April last year at the age of 61 and is buried close to her birthplace in Llangollen.
