Summary
Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones yesterday announced an overview of the Assembly Government's business support. Mr Jones, who is also Minister for Economic Development and Transport, said he would lead a new Economic Renewal Programme for Wales to ensure that the "right policies and structures are in place to build a more sustainable economy following the recession".
He said that this had to involve encouraging an investment culture and ensuring less dependency on grants, as well as driving up skills and encourage worldclass research and development. Mr Jones told Assembly Members that he would draw upon external advice and expertise in order to refocus his department's activities, and would engage with businesses in Wales, their representative organisations and research institutions.See the full content of this document
