Summary
There was now a new hope for convicted prisoners fighting to prove their innocence and our lawyers had started actively working to have our case examined by the CCRC.
The CCRC was set up to review the convictions of those who believe they have either been wrongly found guilty of a criminal offence, or wrongly sentenced. It had come out of the Royal Commission set up by the Tories and led by Lord Runciman. I'd given evidence to him at one time as part of a group of prisoners. The Commission reported in 1993, the year of the unholy mess which was the Stephen Lawrence murder investigation, which goes to show there are always lessons to learn in the criminal justice system.See the full content of this document
