She had a red scarf around her neck when she returned and she looked different: during the short time she had been in the house she seemed to have become a stranger. The spell had broken.

As she climbed into the cart she handed me a camera, and said, "I'm going to take your photographs." Then we were ready to go and Mrs Thomas and Rosy stood on the balcony and waved, while old Dafydd held the gate for us. I thought with a leap of excitement inside me: The day is not over yet; she's coming with us.
