Motorway Crawl Will Mark Fuel Protest

Summary


Fears of a repeat of fuel blockades which crippled the country five years ago were fading last night. Despite yesterday's reports of elaborate Government contingency plans, Welsh fuel protesters' leaders hinted blockades of Welsh refineries were unlikely during this week's anniversary of the 2000 protests.

And refineries, which were taken by surprise by the last round of action, insisted that even if there were any blockades they would not be effective.
