More than one in 10 adults in Wales felt unloved as children, a survey reveals today. Among the 12% who said they felt unloved, in the poll for the NSPCC, 28% suffered depression as a child and 27% were unable to concentrate in school. The NSPCC warned that if the figure were repeated in today's Britain, it would mean there were 1.4 million children in the country who felt their parents didn't love them.

Of those who said they grew up feeling unloved, 11% later became suicidal.
