SOUTH Wales Police has been criticised for refusing to say whether a top detective has been suspended after the collapse of the most expensive trial in Welsh criminal history.

Earlier this month the trial of eight retired police officers and two civilians accused of rigging evidence to secure the convictions of three innocent men for the murder of Cardiff prostitute Lynette White was abandoned after it emerged that crucial evidence had not been handed over by the police to the defence.
