Take Two ; Naturalist Iolo Williams Fronts S4c'S Tir Cymru, Which Looks at the Variety Ofwelsh Landscapes. But What's His Own Favourite?

Summary

Q: How's your new series Tir Cymru going? A: I get excited about every series I present and every shoot I do, but filming this series has been something special. I've been fortunate to be able pursue my hobby and passion in my everyday work. But presenting has given me opportunities to see more flora and fauna than would have otherwise been possible - and in a range of stunning locations. In Tir Cymru, I've learnt a great deal about the wealth of nature in the relatively unexplored underwater world and in industrial and post- industrial areas. This week, for example, I will be looking at unique lichens in the toxic earth of Parys Mountain, foxes at The Point of Ayr Gasworks and rare fungi in an army firing range at Mynydd Epynt.

Q: Have you always loved nature? A: Yes, from a very young age. It was my upbringing in Llanwddyn, Montgomeryshire that sowed the seeds of my passion. It was a wonderful area for discovering wildlife, comparatively rare birds like the black grouse and the hen harrier as well as rare plants, flowers, mosses and grasses.
