Summary
Cor blimey, there's a real nip in the dark nights now, and as the icy cordite air of last weekend settles it's time to dust off the big, fat reds and pour yourself a glass - it's good for the blood don't you know. Well, this week it is anyway, until the next contrary medical report comes out.
Neil Cammies STRAIGHTOFFTHEVINE The CALITERRA 'EDICION LIMITADA' SHIRAZ/CABERNET SAUVIGNON/VIOGNIER 2008 (RRP pounds 13.60, www.slurp.co.uk, www.vinopic.com, Oddbins) has hand-picked fruit aged in a combination of French and American oak for 14 months. Dark inky purple in the glass. Rich and spicy black fruit aromas fly from the glass with mocha at the edges. Violets predominant on the palate alongside the bolder peppery tones coupled with the unctuousness of the fruit. Tannins are full but integrated and the coffee and chocolate notes come fast and furious at the generous conclusion. Another fireside red from the fine Colchagua Valley in Chile.See the full content of this document
