The body set up to prevent the exploitation of migrant workers in the wake of the Morecambe Bay cockle picking tragedy has no staff based in Wales, it has been revealed. Plaid Cymru MP Adam Price said it was "shocking and disgraceful" the Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA) was covering Wales from the West Midlands and North West of England.
The GLA was set up in 2005 following widespread public concern about exploitation following the drowning of 21 Chinese cockle pickers in 2004.See the full content of this document
