Summary
SIR - There are thousands of hard-working single, self-employed people in Wales who struggle to keep their heads above water. They are not helped by extortionate rents, over-priced phone services and over-priced public utility bills. Then there is the most extortionate bill of all - the business rates. This has to be paid whether or not one is earning any money at all. It is a tax on those who try and earn a living. Why pick on the self-employed?
Government ministers will have undoubtedly read the report by the Rowntree Foundation that came out several years ago that states that workers, such as myself, are six times as likely to be in the poorest 10% of the population.See the full content of this document
