ONE in three farmers in Wales rely on a simple padlock - or less - to protect equipment that can be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, a survey has revealed.

Rural crime costs the UK at least pounds 42m, but a survey for the security specialist Agri-Track found that one in six farmers only use a padlock and chain, while a similar number don't even bother with that.
