Summary
Sir - i was interested to read your Retro Report of October 16 on the Panzers at Castlemartin. Although the Panzers have left, the link still remains in the church of St.Mary's Warren. This church, closed and in disrepair, was restored and reopened for worship in 1988 on the initiative of the commanders at the time of the British forces and Federal German Army - Colonels Patrick Lort Phillips and Herman Roeslerr.
The renovations were made possible through grants from Cadw and generous donations from the German Army. The Panzers also crafted and donated the altar and other furnishings, and the church was vested in the Warren Church Trust which has been responsible for its maintenance ever since.See the full content of this document
