LAWYERS have launched a campaign to gain a posthumous pardon for a working-class hero, who was executed nearly 170 years ago. Dic Penderyn - real name Richard Lewis - was hanged in 1831, at the age of 23, for his part in the Merthyr Tydfil uprising, when he wounded a soldier.
A lawyer believes that Penderyn, 23, who led the revolt by mineworkers, was the victim of a miscarriage of justice, and has launched a bid for a posthumous pardon, claiming he did not commit the crime.See the full content of this document
