Summary
Everyone is familiar with King Charles spaniels, the delightful little dogs called after their royal benefactor who adored them so much. Their popularity was increased by artists who included them in family portraits, and Sir Edwin Landseer, Thomas Gainsborough and Van Dyck were particularly good in this respect.
These were painters, of course, but one of the finest artists to depict them in other images is Antonio Aguatti, an Italian working from 1810 until his death in 1846 in micro-mosaics.See the full content of this document
