HORRIFIC cases like that of Craig Sweeney, who abducted and sexually assaulted a three-year-old girl, will become more likely because of swingeing cuts affecting the probation service, it has been claimed.

In Wales, the union Napo fears that more than 200 jobs will be lost over the next two years, leaving already hard-pressed probation officers with far too heavy a case load to monitor offenders properly.
