Two interacting proteins, that help cells move from place to place, may provide a new key to stopping the spread of breast cancer, scientists said last night. Researchers believe targeting one of the proteins could trigger the death of cancer cells by causing them to self-destruct.

The US team from the University of Texas in Houston found that one protein, known as Pak1, chemically modifies the other, called DLC1.
