NEW jobs in construction and manufacturing should be advertised in job centres before being published elsewhere to avoid repeats of the "British jobs for British workers" strikes, Work and Pensions Minister James Purnell said yesterday.

Last month the furore over the use of Italian and Portuguese contractors at a refinery in Lincolnshire led to sympathy walk-outs at Milford Haven and Aberthaw.
