RAIL access from South Wales to Heathrow Airport could be inadequate for many years to come without further lobbying for improvements, transport experts have claimed.

In January last year, Rhodri Morgan, then First Minister, and his deputy said they would lobby for aHeathrow Hub station on the Paddington line because better access was important to Wales' economic development.

Engineering consultants Arup first proposed the hub two years ago and said it could open in 2019, allowing trains from South Wales to connect with high-speed trains to Paris and Brussels, as well as shuttle transport into Heathrow.
