SIR - All credit to Professor Richard Wyn Jones for warning that the 2011 referendum is in grave danger of becoming a farce ("Give political parties public funds for sake of democracy", Jan 26).

We have the funding crisis brought on by the archaic rules of the Electoral Commission. The Yes campaign is in serious financial difficulty, and this is bound to have a deleterious effect on the National Assembly election in May, let alone on this crucial referendum.
