COUNCILS across the UK are looking to Newport to try to learn how the city has led the way in sorting out its pothole problem.
Despite the coldest winter for 30 years, fewer potholes have appeared in Newport's roads this year than appeared after the milder winter of 2009 - thanks to a three-year blitz on highway maintenance which started last summer.
