A MATHEMATICAL modelling system being trialled in Wales could help cut hospital waiting times in half and help save the NHS money.

The system, which is being developed by scientists at Cardiff University, applies mathematical and computational formulae to factor "best outcomes". It has been likened to the 1990s computer game Theme Hospital by one expert.
