ROSS MCWHIRTER - the man who offered a pounds 50,000 reward for the capture of the London bombers - was shot dead on his doorstep last night. He was gunned down by at least two men in front of his Village Road, Enfield home in Middlesex as his wife looked on in horror. Detectives are working on the theory that it was a savage new twist to the IRA's terror campaign in Britain.
