THOUSANDS of civil servants could strike over plans to cut redundancy payouts, it emerged last night.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown told the TUC in Liverpool he would press ahead with plans to reform the Whitehall early-exit scheme, which Downing Street say will save pounds 500m over three years.
