A TOPUS military commander says American Navy ships off Burma's coast will leave the area after failing to get the junta's permission to help with cyclone relief efforts.

Admiral Timothy Keating, the top commander in the Pacific, who is based in Hawaii, says he wants the USS Essex and accompanying vessels to resume their previously scheduled duties tomorrow.
